Top 10 Europop Songs/Videos of 2010

It's nearly impossible to narrow my favorite clips from this year to just 10, but I'll try. The following list contains a few songs/videos that are not explicitly Europop in the traditional sense, but I had to include them because they were just too good to not post. Here is a subjective list of the best from the EU and beyond in 2010.

#1 Robyn - "Dancing On My Own"

No surprise here: Robyn dropped the best song and video of 2010 with her emotional and damn-near-perfect clip for "Dancing On My Own."

#2 Inna - "10 Minutes"

Romania's reigning queen of dance-infused pop released several stellar videos this year, but "10 Minutes" (filmed in London) best captured what's happening in Romania right now sonically and features some decent dancing in parts.

# 3 - Maro Litra - "Elevator Love"

Surprisingly, this was the most popular video I posted this year on the site, with over 20,000 plays. The Greek singer's song is just so perfectly catchy it's a shame American audiences have yet to get down with Litra.

#4 Loona - "Vamos A La Playa"

This song ruled my summer and is the perfect encapsulation of modern Europop. The Dutch singer sings in Spanish and if this song/clip doesn't make you want to move to Majorca immidiately, there might be something wrong with you.

#5 Morandi - "Rock The World"

Yet another winner from Romania in 2010 was Morandi's epic clip for "Rock The World." The clip has a funny intro but the song is the real star of this vibrant video.

#6 Twiins - "Boys Boys Boys"

Slovakia's Twiins won me over in 2010 with this fantastic update of Sabrina Salerno's classic 80s hit. Pure summer Europop win and I expect good things from this duo in 2011.

#7 Donkey Boy - "Ambitions"

Norway's Donkey Boy won over the world in 2010 with this clever and fun clip. The song is maddeningly infectious and evokes strong memories of my favorite 1980s bands.

# 8 Jena Lee - "U.S. Boy"

It was hard to choose just one video from France to represent a country that produced so much fantastic pop and R&B music this year (see Shy'M, Mylene Farmer and Jessy Matador). But the song I keep coming back to (and the most commented Europopped post this year) remains this simple and fun pop song about French girls who like American boys.

#9 Medina - "Addiction"

Denmark's Medina is quite simply my favorite new artist and the biggest thrill for me since I began this blog in June. "Addiction" got as much play as any Robyn song for me this year and I love the video (shot here in L.A. where I live) as well. Here's hoping America discovers Medina in 2011 the way the U.S. took to Robyn in 2010.

#10 (tie) Ezcapade - "When The Beat Drops" / Hannah - "Sanity"

One of the best Europop tunes this year came from England, surprisingly, via Ezcapde's out-of-control catchy "When The Beat Drops." Similarly, Estonia's Hannah, who now lives in London, struck gold in 2010 with her clip for "Sanity."

*Honorable mentions to Lasgo for "Tonight" + Stromae for "Alors On Danse" + Finland's Jenni Vartiainen + Germany's Deine Jugend and Sweden's Familjen for his fantastic "När Planeterna Stannat."
