Instant Istanbul ElectroPop Star: Meet Nazli (New "Saygı Duruşu" Clip)

OK this is awesome. We really need to start writing about more Turkish pop stars because Nazli is our new favorite. Yesterday the singer dropped this clip for "Saygı Duruşu" and it's basically hypnotic. The song was produced by Volga Tamöz'ün (at leat we think we got that right) in conjunction with Yazz Records. The tune translates to "homage" or similar and the guy who wrote the lyrics told this website that the song is an "homage to the high energy of a full summer." And then it gets kind of odd (or maybe just Google translate is terrible?): the tune is also about "love on the eve of departure, such as those in the pharmaceutical future," the songwriter (think his name is Güven Baran) says of Nazli's new tune. Anyway, excellent electro-infused beats cross-checked with live instrumentation and eastern-leaning modalities...what's not to like? Check it.

Belgian/Turkish Megastar Hadise Drops "Mesajımı Almıştır O" Video

She's back! Born in Belgium star Hadise, who has Turkish roots and is known all over Europe thanks to a Eurovision Song Contest turn, has released a new video for her track "Mesajımı Almıştır O" and it looks pretty slick. The clip was directed by Holland's Hulya Acikgoz (who also directed her last promo video) and styled by Derya Açikgöz (the two are sisters). We're talking serious girl power here, people, and it all works out rather well. The song was written by Sözleri Gökhan Şahin’e, Translated a few of the lyrics and here is what Hadise is saying in one part: "I'm sick of your love/I broke my pen/Say a few words necessarily/The arrow can not return springs/One can not change my decision/What else can I say more/That was my message." Ok then, girl, I hear you. Check it out below.

Belgian-Turkish Star Hadise's New Clip

Turkish singer Hadise, who was born in and lives in Belgium, released a new video today for another single off her Ask Kac Beden Giyer record (also called "Ask Kac Beden Giyer"). Like this track much more than the debut offering from the set, "Superman," which dropped earlier this year. The former Eurovision Song Contest participant (2009) is quite popular in Turkey and she's also very well-known in Belgium (she's apparently friends with Kate Ryan). The song title translates from Turkish to "what size do you wear?" or similar and I have to say this might be the raciest promo I've seen from Hadise. Hot clip, directed by Hulya Acikgoz.

Turkey "Lives It Up" For Eurovision 2011

One of the more offbeat songs this year in the Eurovision competition is Turkey's "Live It Up" by Yüksek Sadakat. The band is not bad, and this song really grows on you. It probably won't win, but "Live It Up" may surprise people and place fairly high this year. Have a look at the released late last month clip below. Interetesting fusion of rock, pop and dance rhythms with classical elements that is somehow very European. Oh yes, it's also ridiculous and oddly optimistic.

Romania's Aimi "Loves Istanbul" (A Lot)

Aimi (aka Adina Butar) loves Istanbul. How do I know? Because Aimi screams it in this excellent and absurdly catchy song. Aimi is Romanian (from Deva) but she has a thing for Turkey, apparently. This video was just released today and the track is by Istanbul's Emrah Is. Anyway, this is a fresh-sounding pop/dance collaboration that I already can't stop listening to. Check it out below.
