Swiss/Austrian Dubstep Pop: Tom Novy + Vera Böhnisch's "Thelma & Louise"

Germany's Kontor Records just can't stop cranking out the awesome lately. The latest clip uploaded by the label comes via Swiss DJ Tom Novy and features Austrian singer Vera Katharina Böhnisch (aka "veralovesmusic"). The best part? The song is fucking named "Thelma & Louise" and features dubstep drops so sick you'll feel like driving off a cliff, just like in the Hollywood movie the track is named after. But the tune is a pop jam at heart and it's only a matter of time before U.S. artists start really going for the proverbial dubstep pop jugular (and not just flirting around the edges, a la the ubiquitous dubstep breakdown instrumental at the end of pop songs, as heard in recent Britney Spears offerings etc). Score one for Switzerland and Austria!

Swiss Hope In Your Eyes Via Yves Larock

This is really good. Switzerland's Yves La Rock released a video last year under a different name (Focalized) and hardly anyone noticed, except Universal Music France, who not only noticed but are putting out the track this year. They still don't have a bio for "Focalized" so I'll fill you in on La Rock. Dude has been on the scene for years and is rising along with a number of names from Switzerland lately in dance music circles. He's been on a hot streak after 2010/2011's fantastic "Milky Way" and last year's "The Zoo." I suppose Focalized (a co-project with Tony Sylla) is his more pop side coming out, but Yves' house music is equally catchy and almost pop-esque in parts. Anyway, have a look and listen below to a track/clip from 2011 that is suddenly new again for French fans of fantastique musique (yes, that's what this is).

"Around The World" With Mike Candys

I've been beating the drum about Zürich-based DJ Mike Candys since last year and I'm happy that he has finally had success. Only problem is, much of that success has been in Russia instead of America, where Candys is still largely unknown (meanwhile he has had Top 10 hits in Russia and is well-known now in parts of Europe thanks to hits such as "One Night In Ibiza"). Anyway, a few days ago he dropped a great new video for his latest, "Around The World," and this song also features vocals from Evelyn (former Popstars singer and onetime member of Swiss act Tears). A male vocalist named David Deen (a model/singer) is also on board for this track. Some epic greenscreen action here, check it below. Love the chorus!

Snoop, Akon Are "Daydreaming" In EU

Not sure how I missed this, but last week Snoop Dogg and Akon went full-on Euro and released a single overseas called "I'm Day Dreaming." It's well known that Snoop will guest on any EU artist's track, if you have the money to pay him, that is, and he's done guest spots everywhere from Bulgaria to Russia over the past few years. But this song is a full-on borrow of the sound DJ Antoine and others have been having success with all over the world lately. Let's break down the producers, shall we? Germany's Sebastian K is one, Switzerland's David May is another. There are more involved, too. Oh also talent to watch Redd (real name Amy Louise Aldred) makes the track. Check it out below....could this make it in the U.S.?

Swiss Brazil! Yveslarock's "Running Man"

This is incredible. Today, Switzerland's Yves La Rock uploaded his new collaboration with Brazil's beyond famous in South America DJ/model Jesus Luz, "Running Man." The clip was shot in Rio and the song features the vocal talents of Portugal's fantastic Liliana Almeida. Not only is Jesus a DJ, he's also a supermodel known for dumping Madonna (who needs that old lady, anyway!). Anyway, this is a simply smashing house track that pulses with enough energy to fuel a Rio to Zurich non-stop flight (on a private jet with Champagne, of course). No, Madonna, you're not invited.
