Serbia: Daniel Djokic Drops "Like It Like This" Clip
Guess who's back in action? Daniel Djokic, friends. The proverbial "Man On Fire" just released a new clip today for "Like It Like This" and it's heating up Belgrade today. Not only is the tune in English, the video takes the opportunity for Daniel to show off his new tattoo, which is well done, we have to admit. Not sure if Daniel still lives in California or if he's back in Serbia now, but he lists that he still is in L.A. on both his Twitter and Facebook accounts, so he's still here in L.A., it seems. Maybe that explains why his tat looks so "L.A." (Hollywood and West Hollywood have some of the best ink artists in the world, btw). Check his hot new promo below...music by Darko Dimitrov and video by Dejan Milicevic.
Serbia's Trashiest, Greatest Girl Group Ever? Meet "Grupa Models"
Dear Serbia, what the hell is happening here and what has been happening with this act for years? Oh yes, that's right....you have one of the greatest, trashiest Europop girl groups ever in your midst and you decided to simpy name them "Models." Grupa Models have been around a long time and they are still alive, it seems, with a new single surfacing earlier this year. Are these Belgrade-based beauties really models? Yes! Well, some of them, anyway. Pretty sure members come and go, but the general idea remains the same: insanely hot women and trashy yet excellent videos. Have a look at an older, outrageous clip of theirs ("Pusti Nas U Disco") followed by their latest, the not quite as great "Milioner."
Serbia: Grand Diva Svetlana "Ceca" Ražnatović Returns With "Rasulo" Clip
Guess who's back in action? Svetlana "Ceca" Ražnatović, that's who, friends! The singer is beyond famous in Belgrade and really all over the Balkans. She became even more famous recently, mostly because she narrowly avoided going to jail last year by striking a plea bargain to avoid prison over charges of embezzlement and illegal weapons. Awesome stuff. Up until very recently, she had to wear an electronic surveillance bracelet and was under house arrest. Oh yes: she also had to pay a 1.5 million euro ($2.16 million) fine. Anyway, some say she got off easy regarding the charges but she is now touring, making cash and releasing videos again, like she just did today for "Rasulo." She had a party earlier this week to debut the clip (directed by Miloš Nadaždin) and according to Opera 17, "representatives of a large number of media companies enjoyed the projection on the big screen" of the anticipated promo. Ceca really is a big deal in Serbia.
Serbia: In Which Igor Garnier Out Euros Red One With "Lambada 2k12"
So Red One and J-Lo are making truckloads of cash mining Europop and Eurohouse. But you know who's just as good and who actually lives in Europe? Belgrade's Igor Garnier. Written about this man several times before on this blog and he's a favorite. A few days ago, he uploaded another fantastic summer house track called "Lambada 2k12" and it's in heavy rotation today. You may recognize the riff from a certain popular J-Lo/Red One production, but the riff has been around since before Red One got to it. "Lambada 2k12" is just about the perfect summer soundtrack for any Black Sea resort club this summer (just add a dash of Avicii) and we all need to go there right now and dance to Garnier's "Lambada 2k12!"
Serbia: SevdahBABY & Dixx Release "Izvini Dušo Izvini" Clip
They're back! Serbia's SevdahBaby have just the thing for spring: "Izvini Dušo Izvini." The song (translates to "sorry honey, I'm sorry" or similar) features Dixx and bursts with a kind of optimistic spring step sure to please fans in Belgrade and beyond this season. The clip was directed by Aleksandar Jakovljević and filmed in Belgrade. Interestingly, Serbia's Raiffeisen Bank decided, in cooperation with global ad agency McCann Erickson, to bankroll this promo as part of a campaign. Milan Stankovic is also involved somehow. I wish Citibank or Chase in America would start funding music videos from up & coming bands, don't you? Per the copy below this great-looking promo, the Serbian bank is "using innovative and modern marketing methods and new channels of communication." I'd say. Check out the freshness below from an act this blog has covered multiple times over the past two years.
