Sax-Playing Santa In Debut Dramba Clip
Think the holidays are over? Not yet, friends. Moldova is home to epic sax guy and this country loves the saxophone. Accordingly, there's a sax playing Santa Claus in this new today video from Moldovan group Dramba. The song is called "Vine Anul Nou" (translates to "new year comes") and if this tune is any indication, 2012 will be a new wave kind of new year. Anyway, I have a secret crush on Dramba's singer Adriana Volosenco and this whole clip is just kind of adorable, especially at the end when Santa gets his groove on with the kids. Swear to God this is the last X-mas related post of 2011.
The Hot Diamonds "Need Some Sex"
Is there some kind of man shortage in Romania? Or are men too focused on sports/just not interested in sleeping with good-looking women? Because new Romanian/Moldovan girl group The Hot Diamonds are really sexually frustrated. They "Need Some Sex," guys! (Can't tell you how many times a day I say the exact same thing). While this song is average in parts and good in others, it must be said that I applaud the sentiment (and the outrageous released today video). This Christmas, I think we all can get down with this new mantra. Tell your friends and lovers to skip the presents December 25th. Just tell them you "need some sex," instead.
Moldova's "Miracle" Boy: Meet Devin
So there's this up and coming producer in Moldova. His name is Andrei Tostogan. But he goes by "Devin" and he's going to be one to watch in the coming years. A few days ago he released this video for "Miracle" and the song (and clip) will grow on you. Devin's already somewhat known, thanks to his collaboration with Flavy DeeJay called "Rhythym For Love," but "Miracle" is a solo outing. This is the same guy who also wrote Katy Rain's excellent "Boy" so he's already got my vote as one to look out for in 2012. Check out his latest below.
Katy Rain's Catchy Chişinău Dance/Pop
You know who is criminally unknown outside of Romania and her own country of Moldova? Katy Rain. Earlier this year the Chişinău-based singer, who reminds me a little of Inna, released this great song/clip called "Boy" and I can't stop listing to the track. Katy won a international music competition in 2009 called "Fiesta Pearl," which took place in Turkey, yet she still seems a bit under the radar, despite great songs such as what you'll see below. Check the Andrew Tostogan-written tune below.
Moldova: Dana Marchitan Drops Two Clips
You guys: there's a singer in Moldova named Dana Marchitan and she's releasing videos all the time. Am I the only one paying attention? Anyway, yesterday the singer dropped a new clip for "Higher" and over the summer she released a video for "Impreuna." If you're unaware of Dana, realize she's like the Susan Lucci of Moldova when it comes to Eurovision. She's competed six times internally to represent the country (including this year) and never quite made the cut (though she has come close). In 2012, Moldova, it may be time to send this talent to Baku to represent you! Check out both new clips below.
