Iceland's Ice Queens: Meet Steed Lord
Iceland is known for its fanatstic bands, but it is less known for its dance/pop hybrids. Yesterday, Steed Lord released this great-looking video for "123 If You Want Me" and it sounds like a house record from New York or Sweden, with a bit of an experiemental edge. The video features incredible choreography and some stellar outfits as well. File under surprisingly chic Reykjavik thrills. (h/t Stereogum)
In Love With Iceland's Hafdis Huld
Winter is almost here, and I am now looking forward to it thanks to Iceland's Hafdis Huld. This video, released earlier this year, is just about the best thing I've ever seen and I am now hopelessly in love with Huld. "Action Man" is subtle yet rewarding. Have a look/listen below and get ready for snow (and smiles).
Why America needs Iceland icon Páll Óskar
Come back, Páll Óskar. America needs you. You see, we hardly knew you and now you seem to be gone from the scene. Most Americans know Bjork and Sigur Ros, but the time is right for Paul to release a new record and get back out from behind the DJ booth and show the States Iceland's pop heart! Here is my favorite video (from 2007) from Óskar, "Allt fyrir ástina."
