Greece: Kostas Martakis' "Entasi" Clip

Feeling inspired by all the recently wrapped fashion shows in Paris? Well the fashion party is not over, it has just moved south to Athens. Greece's Kostas Martakis is back in the mix with a new clip and it looks ripped from the pages of Vogue magazine. "Entasi" translates to "intensity" (roughly) and the good-looking Greek has it in spades here in this released today video. Last time we checked in on the Dancing With The Stars competitor (he came in second last year on the TV show), he was getting frisky as part of an electropop duet (with Russia's Diana Diez) in his clip for "Sex Indigo." This time, it's a solo affair for the Universal Music Greece singer, and it's one we can all get behind. Good art direction by John Mitropoulos. Clip directed by Apollon Papatheoharis. Check it below.

Ilia Darlin Releases Hot "Hit Me" Video

I'm officially in love with Ilia Darlin. The Greek singer who now calls London home today released a new video hot off the heels of a just-debuted single called "Hit Me" and it's all kinds of awesome. I wrote about the sexy singer in 2010 and went all year last year without material from this rising star. But all is forgiven, as Ilia (now with EMI) is back and back in a big way! Check out the catchy single (written by Sunny Berhane, Djahmyne Stewart, Billy Mann and David Schuler) paired with a winning clip below. Katy Perry wishes she had this song in her catalog. A grower and a 100% winner.

Corfu Cool: Nigma's "End Of The Road"

Haver you ever been to the island of Corfu? Me neither, but we can all virtually go there via Nigma's "Στο Τέρμα Του Δρόμου" (translates roughly to "End of the Road"). The new video by the band formed in Corfu showcases the energy of the Planetworks/Unversal Music Greece act nicely, with a throbbing baseline, euro-styled synths and even a bit of auto-tune going on. The band was formed by Elias Karathanasis in 2007 (though the song below was written by Spyros Metaxas). Since then, the act has had a few hits, including 2010's "Play Me" (or "Παίξε μαζί μοu") which was featured on reality show Next Top Model in Greece. Their latest clip, directed by dNd TV, is "Στο Τέρμα Του Δρόμου," which just dropped and is below. Pretty good in parts...thoughts?

Greece: Shaya Hansen Unveils "Λένε" Clip

I've been waiting for this video to drop for weeks, and today it finally has hit You Tube after a Mad TV premiere in Greece. Shaya Hansen is just on fire lately in Athens and she's very much becoming Greece's answer to Beyonce. But Shaya has her own style and girl is doing it her way in this new clip for "Λένε." The promo gets quite risqué towards the end, with an S&M feel that might make Rihanna blush. Check out the fantastic-looking clip for "Say" below (directed by George Ant). So hot.

Best Greek Music Videos Of 2011: Top 3

No European country surprised this blog more than Greece in 2011. The quality of music (see Nikos GanosOther View, Playmen etc) and music videos here is rapidly exploding and always excting, thanks to several stellar video directors such as George Ant and Sherif Francis leaving their collective mark. Over the summer one of the hottest songs and best-looking clips was from Midentists, featuring rising star Demy. "Μια Ζωγραφιά" was the right combination of a great, upbeat song with a visually appealing clip that has so far generated over seven million streams on You Tube. Next up is a clip for a song and video I thought might do better, Sakis Rouvas' awesome "Oi Dio Mas" which surprisingly did only about 1/10th of the traffic "Μια Ζωγραφιά" did. Still, it's a hot song and the White Room-directed clip jumps off the screen. Lastly we have a promo from one of Athens' hottest acts, Vegas, called "Fili." The clip remains on fire, nearing 10 million views (directed by Sherif Francis).
