Greece: Rec Drops "Ase Me Na S' Agapo"
They're back! Athens' REC a few hours ago unveiled a killer clip for a killer song, "Ase Me Na S' Agapo." According to the act, who are very popular in Greece, the clip below is an "urban Romeo & Juliet" story. "The concept of a small story unfolds before your eyes in just 3 minutes and a half," they add. The promo was done by Sherif Francis and Tina Sardelas and it looks fantastic (like nearly all their other music videos). Wrote about REC a few times last year and they are without a doubt one of Greece's better pop acts and a radio favorite in Athens and beyond. Check their latest below (the promo below marks the music video debut of Loca Records, a label started in part by Mars Loumakis, a member of REC).
Greek Greatness: Goin Through's New "Είσαι Αλλού" Clip
OK straight up: if this new track By Greece's Goin' Through (two guys by the names of Nikos ‘NiVo’ Vourliotis and Michalis Papathanasiou) was in English, it would crack the upper echelons of urban US radio in a heartbeat. "Είσαι Αλλού" is a seriously strong song that takes the best current production trends and uses them in all the right ways. Vocals on "Είσαι Αλλού" (translates to "you elsewhere"/"being elsewhere" or similar) are augmented here by rapper Z-Batist and the entire package is really tight. Check out the Konstantinos Rigos directed clip below. Big like!
A-Ha's "Take On Me" Video? No, It's Etostone's Great New "For Eternity" Clip
So do you guys remember A-Ha's classic 1980's video for "Take On Me?" Well the brand new video below is a bit like that, where the comic book comes to life. Greece's Pavlos Etostone has really hit this one out of the park and I hope it helps raise his profile internationally. He's already known a bit in dance circles as a few years ago he was voted into the 150 Top DJs list in the world by DJ Magazine (UK). But he hasn't been on the list recently, which is a shame, as last year he released a great song called "I Take U High" (featuring Tama Ray). This time around, he features male vocal talent instead of a female singer (nice job by Carlos Galavis, as you'll see below). Great song, great video....check it.
Greece: Eleni Foureira Debuts "Το party δε σταματά" Clip
Guess who's back with a new clip? Greece's Eleni Foureira, friends. "Το party δε σταματά" is her 2012 calling card and it's really rather good. The song (written in part by Alex Leon) features a strong cameo/guest rap from Μηδενιστής who we last saw killing it with Demy last year. Anyway, "Το party δε σταματά" translates to "the party does not stop" and after listening to this jam, you might agree that indeed, the party never stops in Athens. Nice looking clip as well, directed by John Papadakis and Dimitris Platanias. Check it below.
Greece's Secret Best Band: Keep Shelly In Athens (New "Our Own Dream" Video)
Why has no one told this blog about Keep Shelly In Athens? This may be Greece's best and most interesting band and they are coming to Coachella! Simply floored by this stunning video, which just hit YouTube today after a debut on Vimeo. "Our Own Dream" was written, directed and edited by Thanasis Tsimpinis who deserves some kind of award for creating an actual dream-like promo without it coming off badly. It's not as easy as it looks, friends, and it's done with style as you'll see below. Haunting song and unforgettable images below. A bit NSFW, so consider yourself warned. See you at Coachella. I'm making it a priority to see Keep Shelly In Athens after seeing this.
