France: Jenifer Debuts "L'amour Fou" Clip

One of Universal Music France's rising stars, Jenifer, today released a video for her "L'amour Fou" which appears on a reissue of her latest album (on which there is a  different mix of "L'Amour Fou"). This is the version that has the new clip. I wrote about Jenifer before on this blog and she seems to be quite popular in Paris and beyond...especially with women (lots of women's magazines write about her, for example). Check out the getting-bigger-every-day-in-France singer running through the streets of Paris wearing a Burberry trenchcoat below. The track is off her latest disc, which has a title that translates to Call Me Jen (real title is Appelle-Moi Jen).

Benjamin Braxton Hits NYC: "Save Me"

Bon soir, mes amis. Guess who's back? Benjamin Braxton, that's who. The songwriter/dj/producer just dropped a great clip for his latest, "Save Me," and I'm feeling it. The video was shot in Manhattan and features a singer named Carmella. I've covered Benjamin several times before on this blog and he remains one of Paris' most under rated, in my opinion, when it comes to pop-infused dance tracks (with true pop heart). Check his latest below (for a 2/3 release on iTunes).

France's Favorite Female: Shy'm

So tonight (Saturday, 1/28) France will find out who its favorite female singer is in Cannes (where I am right now) via NRJ's massive annual televised awards show. There is a very good chance Shy'M is going to win. The singer is nominated for 'Artiste Féminine Française de L'année' and she will be performing tonight (pretty sure) win or loose at the ceremony. I've covered Shy'M several times before on this blog over the past two years and she's one of France's finest without a doubt, operating on a level unmatched by many of her peers. Late last year the beauty dropped a clip for "En Apesanteur" that I somehow missed, but it just came on TV here this am in France (on a show called "Wake Up") and it's quite good.

Pitbull and Bob Sinclar "Rock The Boat"

Here's a hopeful French summer anthem a bit early, Bob Sinclar's "Rock The Boat." The song features Pitbull, Dragonfly and sadly, Fatman Scoop, who kind of ruins every song he's in with annoying exaltations for no reason. But even Fatman Scoop can't stop this track, which sounds more David Guetta than recent David Guetta and is just a total banger. Great job Bob (one of the biggest names in dance music from France and increasingly the U.S. thanks to his involvement with new Miami club, Amnesia), great job Pitbull and, well, Fatman Scoop, maybe time to stop saying "here we go now," "let's go" and "clap your hands" in every song you rap on? Check the hotness below.

Marseille "Millionaires": Meet Kitsch 2.0

Two years ago I wrote an article for CNN.com about the coming wave of "Eurohop." Blame David Guetta if you want, but my predictions are all coming true...so many U.S. rappers and R&B acts are now pairing up with EU-based DJ's to create a sound that radio stations love (see Germany's hot-right-now R.I.O. or even Chris Brown tapping Benny Benassi, for proof). The latest example of "eurohop" (or what Marseille-based Kitsch 2.0, known for their remix work, call "electrohop" on their soundcloud page) is "Millionaire." Late last year they released a video for the track and it has taken off a bit on You Tube, subsequently receiving airplay on radio stations in France and Spain (though not quite the hit it could be if it were on a major label). The track features a rapper from New York, Theory, and it's pretty decent all around. Check it below...great energy and catchy (though a bit cheesy...still, it all somehow works out in the end for all involved).
